The Journey to Success: Four words, with MAJOR IMPACT!

We all know that one person. That person who constantly complains about a situation or circumstance and yet they keep doing the same old things over and over expecting a different result. That my friends is the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I watch many people I care about go about and live their life this way. Clients that complain of pain yet they don’t do the exercises you recommend, friends who constantly hate their jobs (regardless of how many they go through), people who want things in life but have no real plan to get them. I am okay with complaining, I know I need to get better at doing less of it myself, but when you don’t have a solution or plan to solve your problem at the end of the rant, your just babbling words that bring you down.

The only way to get something worth having is to go and get it yourself. Hoping for or finding the easy way will only get you lost. Complaining will keep you in the cycle. There are no easy ways, you can’t count on more money, better health or improved relationships waiting for the easy road or better yet…waiting for luck.

Change your mindset change your life. I’ve often been told, I couldn’t do what you do. What is it that I do? I went to school, got a job or two and decided to make a choice, a choice to create my own employment. Security for me is very important instead of complaining I’m choosing to create security, for myself, my family and my future. I didn’t go to school to run a business but I do it, I am terrified of judgement and socializing with strangers, yet I am in relationship marketing, I am nothing more than anyone nor am I anything less, I am just a human being, like you. I have a desire to make it work, a faith to know it will and the persistence and consistency to ensure it happens. Those four things change everything: desire faith persistence and consistency. That’s all that separates the successful ones from the unsuccessful ones. This holds true for your health, your relationships, your finances…pretty much all aspects of your life will flourish if you have desire, faith, persistence and consistency. It’s true, if you have ever applied this method you know it to be so, if not, there’s no better time to start than the present.

Someone said to me a while back that I may be following the masses and I should be careful. I had a few simple questions. What do you do in the morning when you first get up. Walk me through your morning. Well I get up make my coffee, read the paper and get ready for work. Okay….and after that? Well I drive to work and start my work week. Oh I see, do you work 8 hours a day roughly, 5 days a week? Well yeah, why do you ask? Well every day Monday-Friday a large portion of the population gets up makes a coffee and reads the paper or checks the news, they then get ready for work and proceed to do this 5 days a week for about 8 hours a day, does that sound like following the masses a little more to you? …….. As you might guess I did not get a response. Again change your thoughts change your life.

All you need to do to be successful in all areas of your life, whichever are important to you, is that you must first change your thoughts. In order to do this you will need desire and faith, being consistent and persistent will make it pay off in the long run. Once you start growing as a “better” person inside, being a happier more positive human being you will then start to attract what you want and need in life. Happy people attract happy people, and people connect with people not things.

So next time you complain, continue for a minute and start on the solution. There are always two outcomes, what you can do about it and what you can’t. Try to focus on what’s possible.

Hope this can make you think going into your work week!! Have an awesome day all!

Who are you?

Cristian Mihai

“We don’t know who we are until we see what we can do.” – Martha Grimes

Who are you? What defines you as a person? What qualities do you possess? But what about flaws? What do you want most in life? What are you afraid of the most?

If only it were so simple to answer those questions. A person is the sum total of all his experiences until the present moment. Experiences and reactions to those experiences. Not only the story, but the change that accompanied said story.

What I’m really trying to say is that we change. We become more and more what the world wants us to be, or we become more and more who we want to be. Either way, we change.

But I strenuously believe that we must set our own course, that we must aspire to be the kind of person we’d love to…

Follow your whatever you WANT!

Have you ever wished you could try something out and if it didn’t work you could go back to whatever it is you were doing before? Guess what you can!

There is no reason why you can’t sustain your life financially with a job while building your fortune or working on your passions part-time. The beautiful thing about life is that we have time; the downfall is it passes regardless of what we are doing with it. I have had the privilege to meet many different people, from many walks of life, all that hold many different qualities and values, thanks to my job, which also happens to be one of my many passions. We are all eager for something more in our lives, very few seek ways to get there or will not go unless they are following the masses.

While driving to work the other morning I popped in a CD I have been meaning to listen to for a while now, these days my radio blasts educational inspiration rather than the top 40, and I want to share something that really hit home to me. The Success CD in particular was all about entrepreneurship in our time and why we all have it in us to be great ones! I can’t stop listening to this interview; every word has value and is shouting to my soul at the moment.   Darren Hardy shared a great story that got my wheels turning, so I am hoping by sharing this with you, it does the same.

People fear what they don’t know. People tend to follow, before they lead. Failure loves comfort.

This can be seen with “the crab”. When a fisherman is catching crabs, they will drop a large cage into the water full of bait with a whole on top. As each crab swims by, they slowly go in to eat the bait. One by one the crabs follow each other into the trap taking the bait even after the bait is gone. After a while the whole trap fills up! Once full a crab may realize there is no bait left and they will try to crawl out of the trap by clawing its way up the cage. When the other crabs see this, they will pull the crab back down. If the crab attempts to crawl out again, they will pull it back down. If it tries again they break off the claws to prevent the crab from leaving, sometimes they even resort to killing the crab if necessary.

Sound familiar to you?

In any aspect of life, people will question your choices. People fear what they do not know, people attack what they do now know. That is why there are only 10% of you currently following your passions regardless of the “No’s, Don’ts and Won’ts”, the “nay sayers” so to speak!

Whether you are making a career change, a move across the country or just simply exploring other options there will be people who try to bring you down, directly and indirectly because of their own fears and judgments. If someone is judging you for something you are doing, something you are pursuing or something you believe in remember judgment starts within, we tend to judge most in others which we do not like in ourselves.

Also remember these people do not mean to bring you down, they simply may not understand, and quite frankly it is not your job to make them understand either. All you can do is wake up each day and use your time wisely, use it to build yourself up and all others around you. You have one precious life. Take more chances, take more risks, and go after the life you crave!

Good news is you’re not a crab, and no one is literally picking you apart to fail!

From Skeptic to Success- Opportunity lies here!

The first month of 2015 has come and gone. What did you do with it? We have 86, 400 seconds each day. What have you been doing with them? Let me share a little of what I have been doing with mine!

This past month I have had a taste of the freedom I have been working for since college. For the past 10 years I have been working hard to create the life I want. I have tried the corporate thing, 9-5 is not for me! College was great, I love what I do, massage and helping people deal with their pain is one of my passions, however it has been one of the hardest jobs I have ever had! Being self employed with no business training was tough. Although I feel I have been very successful in this field, the problem is every dollar I make is dependant upon my time or my continual efforts. There is always something to do! After 6 + years of owning a business you get tired and start to forget why you are doing what you are doing at times, I am lucky I have great friends, family, staff and support so I can get through those times and come back too. I have also dabbled in things like network marketing, one company I have been with for 6 years or so just wasn’t marketable or profitable. I believed in the product, I still do but with a high cost for clients, no rewards for the clients or partners and high monthly quotas to meet just to make a few dollars, made it very hard to sell. Ugh just typing the word sell makes me cringe. My next direct sales company was full of great women, but the products I found were replaceable. They weren’t exclusive in their results or performance. At the time there was a high monthly auto-ship and I found it impossible to get anyone to order if from me unless I gave them my discount, long story short I made one check for $25.00 in 2 years, so eventually I gave it up. I lost my hope for the direct sales, network marketing companies and started to prepare myself to work hard for a lifetime and accept this was how I would get ahead in life.

I then met the two people who would change my life for the better. I admired their passion for life, their inspirational messages, videos and books. Little did I know these people I looked up too would be my business partners one day! They were apart of yet again another network marketing company, I was devastated. Why, Why, Why are they apart of something I can’t be good at! For two years I tried to convince myself to join there team. I was so skeptical, I went to meetings, events, coffee dates and kept looking to find something that would attract me to this company other than the fact that it would look good on my counter in my clinic. I couldn’t wrap my head around how to make any money or help other people to make a separate income on the side with it. It was a constant get sales business and I am not good at selling anything, period. Then just as I was about to sign my life away to something I knew wouldn’t work, just to have more access to my mentors I got the email. Subject line: We are not longer with *****

I was devastated, I had finally convinced myself to rejoin the network marketing world, I was going to have my chance to work with my mentors and then they decided to do what I thought was crazy, they joined Nerium International. Skin care, skin care, NOOO!! I just got out of skin care a few years ago. Why oh why! For a few weeks I felt lost. I was prepping to go back to school and face the fact I needed to have JOB for the rest of my life and retire if I was lucky. Then it hit me, why would people having success in one company leave over night for another? What if this wasn’t just skin care? What if they were onto something?

Nerium B:A 1

I decided that night to go out to a “market party” by myself (something I had done many times before for many other companies) I actually remember calling my family on the way and saying I don’t know why I am going, its probably just like all the others…. I must say I left that event with more hope, more inspiration, more motivation and more joy than I had experienced in months prior. These were real people, with a real exclusive product that was changing peoples lives. The best part is there was no real selling involved, just sharing. Now that was something I could do, I am great at sharing! When I left instead of not understanding how I was going to make an income, I couldn’t figure out how the company was making theirs. It was like they were giving inventory, product and opportunity away for FREE. That night I made a decision to join Nerium on my own. Finally I had a vehicle with multiple seats on the bus. I didn’t have to choose between my success and someone else’s because they now truly go hand in hand.

steph nerium

This past month I have seen the freedom and residuals that come from being with Nerium. I earned my free IPad in my first 45 days which to me had to be a fluke, until I watched 3 other people do the same thing, in less time than I did! This past week I went to Mexico with my husband, WRITE OFF, I also got paid while sitting on the beach drinking a pina colada. I love that I can get paid off of the work I had already done, over and over again! I am helping my team retire their husbands, pay off their student loans and be able to do what they truly love for they no longer need to worry about money coming in from a pay check or an employer. I get to give people the opportunity to take life into their own hands. Its so simple. Anyone can do it. Including YOU!

You can do what you love, you can create the life you want and you can skip out on the 40/40/40 plan. All you need to do it look at a better option….because options are a beautiful thing!

** 40/40/40 plan- trading 40 years of your life, 40 hours per week to end up with 40% of your pay

Never give UP!

Okay readers, I have been on quite the roller coaster lately. The past year and a half has been crazy. Blood, sweat, tears, laughter and joy have come my way. As some of you know I opened a new business Lavandula Wellness Centre on my own last year. Without help from friends and family it wouldn’t have been possible. Although I had a tonne of support its hard to feel like I wasn’t “in” it by myself. This might be because most nights when I was at the office late, I was alone. When the bills came, it was just my name on the invoice and when the problems came up, I was the one responsible for fixing them. With all the support in the world sometimes you are still left in the arena alone to fight and defend, to win the game so to speak. In those moments of weakness, defeat and confusion I would never have imagined I would be where I am today. I am not rich by any means, but I am smarter, stronger and have failed enough times to know failure is the key to reaching success. In the past year where I felt as though all my efforts were failing, they weren’t. I was planting seeds, nourishing them and hoping they would grow. My seeds didn’t sow right away, they took their time. Had I stopped nourishing them when I thought it wasn’t worth it anymore I wouldn’t have met tonnes of amazing people who continue to support me, and show me whats possible. I wouldn’t have placed 8/40 for the Top 40 Under 40 business awards. I wouldn’t have double ranked and met my short term goals with my new company I’ve joined, Nerium International, I wouldn’t have had any nominations in the Hamilton Spectator and Lavandula wouldn’t have been nominated in the Gold category for Holistic Health or placed Top 10 in the massage section nor would I have placed where I did in the paper. I don’t tell you this to brag, I tell you this to show you that just because you don’t see the results, just because you can’t grab a hold of that success and see it, its still happening. Thanks to my partnership with Nerium, I read a great book called the Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen, little did I know in some areas of my life I was already applying the Slight Edge Philosophy. Now I am trying to apply this philosophy to all areas of my life. To do little things no matter how insignificant them may seem at the time, consistently and persistently, until they compounded effect gives me the desired outcome I have been working towards. I am grateful that a recent choice I made lead me to see how I was already applying this to my life and how with the Slight Edge Philosophy I can really change any area of my life I wish to change. Whatever your dreams are go for them, don’t stop. Don’t let the nay-sayers and ankle bitters bring you down! People are out there to suck the energy out of you because they wish they could have the drive to reach their dreams or they don’t understand yours. Just remember WHY you are doing what you do, and let that drive you on forward!

Wishing you the best in whatever drives you forward!

Blessing and love sent your way!

5 Simple Yet Productive Business Tips!

Wow!  Its been too long!  Lots of things are happening, I have gotten so caught up in life…but I am back!

Sometimes I think we get so wrapped up into something new and exciting especially when we invest ourselves, physically, emotionally or financially.  For me that investment was Lavandula Wellness Centre.  I love being a massage therapist, its one of my passions.  Helping people be better fills my soul up.  Being an Entrepreneur isn’t always peaches, and if you are the juiciest ripest peach on the tree, there will still be someone who doesn’t like peaches.

I have learned many things over the past 6 years being self employed, a business owner and a “leader” ( I use the term loosely as I learned along the way with my teams).  Here are a few I want to share with you!

1.  Keep your head up, always.  You will have more positive thoughts about life in general, looking down when thinking leads to more negative thoughts.  I learned this when I read a great book The Slight Edge, grab a copy. It will change your life, if your ready.

2. When it gets hard, stay.  You never know what step will take you to the next level.  Most people will not succeed because they give up when it gets hard.  Seek mentorship, stay in the game.

3. Try and better yourself each day.  Without being the best person you can be, how can you teach anyone else too?  Read 10 pages of a good book, listen to a great audio CD on the way to work.  10 minutes or 10 pages daily can curb your thoughts.

4. People who help people get ahead are most successful.  Give back, volunteer, reach out, share opportunity.

5. Seek advice and mentorship from others who are already successfully doing what you are doing, or can help you in specific areas of your business.  Somethings you shouldn’t do because realistically you can’t do everything and do everything well.  If you ask in the right way, people are almost always willing to help!

Remember the sky is the limit!  Anything is possible.  Just work hard, seek advice from people who are qualified to give it and have some fun along the way too!

Peace and love your way,

Long Weekends are MADE for PLAY!

There are many components to a happy life.  One of them being play.  Rest is equally important however rest brings you to a play where you can finally enjoy play.

What do I mean when I speak of PLAY?  Play can be anything that fills your soul up.  Dr Stuart Brown, a researcher in play has a definition for play that I love!

Play is…

  • is voluntary
  • has no obvious survival value or is apparently purposeless
  • is pleasurable or fun
  • creates a diminished sense of time and self consciousness
  • is improvisational

There are different types of play.  You can plan it, get lost in it or find yourself.

For me play is creating and organzing.

I love to paint, I am not an “artist” in the eyes of the art community but inside myself I am one of the best.  Glitter, paint, collages, scrapbooking…I get lost in these things for hours.  This is my get lost inside myself play.  Sometimes its as simple as putting pictures into an Album.

This is like play for me, because it fills me up.  Cleaning, sorting and freshening up spaces or areas makes me feel great inside.  Nothing is better than an organized, clean and creative space.  Less clutter leads to less stress.  So technically for me, housework can be play.  But only if I am doing it because I want to, not because I feel I have too!

Be careful not to force yourself into play often.  Take baby steps.  Maybe its a trip to the park with the kids, weeding your garden, making homemade bath salts or trying a new dance class.

Whatever you do get out and play this weekend!  How do you play?  Remember play is as important as rest, nutrition and self love!

Have a fantastic long weekend!  Stay safe and have fun with family and friends!  That’s what long weekends are all about!

Peace, love and blessings,

Stephanie Oliver (Muir) RMT

One year ago today…

One year ago today….how time flies!

Last year on this very day I made a choice to let go. Let go of the past, and embrace the present. Stop fearing the future and live in the now. I was sitting on the beach, 7am watching the sun rise. It was quiet, the water was still an the sun was shining! In that moment I realized this is what life is about. Not about money, status, getting things done or finding your way. Life is about moments and relationships.

The moments if you stop to embrace them will enhance or change your life. I met some awesome people last year the day after this day. It was the universes way of telling me, yes you can slow down and still be productive, yes you can take time for YOU and not feel guilty. I learned that night about “stillness” which is what I experienced that morning on the beach.

I also learned that relationships need communication. Without it there are just two souls feeling different things,. You will drift apart without communication. Little things or expression of emotion can go a long way. I have lost friendships over this, especially over the past year.

The most important thing I learned is our greatest fears can be our greatest gift.

Over the past year I left the comfort of my career and started a new one, I took a leap and started Lavandula and here we are one year strong. This allowed me to see my worth, what I could do, and what I couldn’t. I met amazing people over the past year that I would not have had I not jumped out of my comfort zone.

I got married, bought a home and changed my inner circle. I know now surrounding yourself with people who are like minded, people who bring you up, is very important. Relationships that tear you down, there is no time for that. One way streets are no longer for me. I will care but only as much as I can without it hurting myself. Toxicity is not a good thing in any relationship. The givers generally start to turn resentful and push back. If you are a giver this will hurt your credibility as so and if you are the taker you will inevitably feel confused, sad or lost as to why, because a) it’s never been a problem before or b) they have no idea what they have done wrong because they haven’t done anything wrong per say. You did.

The moral of the story is last year I didn’t think I would be where I am today. I didn’t think I could do it alone and looking back, I didn’t. Great relationships will enhance your outlook on life, support you at your worst and show you love at your best! Facing your fears and going for that one thing you keep thinking about will open doors you didn’t know were there. It’s scary as hell, but worth every second, even the defeating ones. Take time. Life moves fast. We lose sight of what matters due to the demands society places upon us, why add to that by putting more on yourself.

Stop, be still, live freely and speak what you feel.

Here’s to the end of not only a fabulous birthday but an amazing 26th year of life! I can only imagine what 27 will bring!

Thank you to all those special people who believed in me, supported me, listened to me good and bad and never let me fall along the way!

Regular Massage=Regular Dental= Regular Check-ups

Why are regular massage therapy appointments just as crucial to your health as your 3-6 month dental visit or yearly check up at the doctors office?

Did you know that people who start to receive regular massage therapy appointments are less likely to have chronic low back pain, headaches or shoulder pain that is not caused by injury or trauma?

Massage therapy helps to regulate your circulatory and lymphatic flow, promotes relaxation, increases your range of motion in your joints, breaks down scar tissue from old injuries, helps new injuries heal correctly, improves performance and prevents injury, treats the fascia and eases away muscle tension from over use or over strain.  Massage therapy also increases the functioning of your immune system.

Your massage therapist also sees things you don’t; we massage parts of your body you don’t see often, your neck, back, posterior arms and legs.  We palpate muscles and lymph nodes and feel things that aren’t always “right” on the surface. Your therapist can make you aware of your moles and watch the change for you, they can notice lumps/bumps to make you aware of or notice a vein that may need some attention.

Your massage therapist cannot diagnose you, but they can recommend that you get something checked out or looked at.  Massage therapists in Ontario have a high level of training when it come to anatomy of the human body, physiology (what happens inside) and pathology (disease). We also with time and experience see many clients with common ailments that have been previously diagnosed, so more often than not your therapist knows what they are doing and can guide you in the right direction when there findings are not in their scope of practice.

When we go to the dentist we have our mouths checked- gums, teeth, tongue, upper lymph nodes around our face and neck.  This keeps our cardiovascular system strong and our oral hygiene in good shape.  We see the doctor they have a quick listen to our heart, take our blood pressure, weigh us, ask a few questions and most of the time it ends there, and all is good.  Its not always fun, yet most of us, still make a point to do it.  When you see your massage therapist you not only receive a service that you will actually enjoy (no offence to the hygienists, dentists and docs, I love the clean teeth feeling but I can’t say I can compare the “check ups” and cleanings to a massage), you will receive so many awesome health benefits!  Prevention and solution can be found with massage therapy just like many other health care service we depend on.

Keep that in mind next time something hurts.  Pain killers can be a quick band-aid to your problem, but to fix the issue and prevent it from coming back, massage, chiropractic or holistic health services may be a better long term option!

Remember to always take care of your best asset, YOU!

Love your body its the only place you have to live ~ Jim Rohn

Sending light, energy and health your way!
